FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PETER PITTS TO JOIN WHAM AS A STRATEGIC ADVISOR

Strategic Leadership to Accelerate Industry Transformation and

Achieve WHAM’s 3Not30 Goals

GREENWICH, Conn. (March 18, 2025) Women’s Health Access Matters (WHAM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Pitts as Strategic Advisor to The WHAM Life Sciences Collaborative, which will be launched in spring, 2025. This initiative will work in synergy with WHAM’s Research Collaborative and the recently established WHAM Investment Collaborative, all dedicated to achieving the ambitious WHAM 3Not30 goals.

The WHAM Life Sciences Collaborative will bring together leaders in biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors to spearhead innovative solutions and drive systemic change. Through pre-competitive sharing and strategic collaborations, this group will play a crucial role in advancing WHAM’s goals to double federal and private investment in women’s health, expand access to clinical trials, and perform secondary data analysis to reveal sex differences. Collaborative members will also have the opportunity to help shape the WHAM Accountability Indexes, measures of organizational progress on addressing sex through product lifecycles.

Peter Pitts, President and co-founder of the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest and former FDA Associate Commissioner, joins WHAM with a wealth of experience in healthcare policy, regulatory affairs, and strategic communications. With a distinguished career that spans global healthcare policy, public health initiatives, and academic contributions, Pitts is uniquely positioned to guide the WHAM Life Sciences Collaborative in achieving its objectives.

“WHAM’s vision for women’s health is both timely and transformative,” said Peter Pitts. “I am honored to join this initiative and look forward to helping drive meaningful change in how we approach women’s health research, investment, and policy. I am pleased that Marsha Henderson, Associate Commissioner for Women’s Health at FDA (retired) and a WHAM Board Member, will also contribute to the success of this effort.”

Pitts has served as a senior communications and policy advisor at the FDA, where he oversaw critical initiatives including the agency’s obesity working group and counterfeit drug taskforce. His global expertise is further evidenced by his contributions to healthcare policy discussions in over 30 countries, as well as his involvement with international organizations like the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS). He is also an accomplished author and educator, with a prolific career in both public and private healthcare sectors.

Carolee Lee, CEO and Founder of WHAM, added, “The WHAM Life Sciences Collaborative represents a pivotal step in advancing women’s health research and investment. Peter Pitts brings unparalleled expertise in healthcare policy and a deep commitment to driving change. Under his leadership, this Collaborative will be a force for innovation, ensuring that women’s health receives the attention and investment it urgently needs.”

As WHAM continues to expand its influence across the healthcare ecosystem, the launch of the WHAM Life Sciences Collaborative under Pitts’ guidance is a significant step toward achieving the organization’s ambitious goals. This Collaborative will actively engage with WHAM’s other initiatives, including efforts to accurately frame market opportunities for women’s health and engage with our Public-Private-Academic Partnership’s focused on decentralized clinical trials.

With founding members to be announced soon, the Collaborative is set to grow into a global network. Pitts’ appointment reinforces WHAM’s steadfast commitment to shaping the future of women’s health through strategic investment, innovation, and collaboration.
